The Coordination Council opened the Representative Office of the International Union of Lawyers in the Kingdom of Spain
Iriarte Angel Jose Luis, professor of private international law at the State University in Navarra (Spain), member of the standing Commission on International Cooperation of the International Union of Lawyers was appointed as the Representative of the International Union of Lawyers in the Kingdom of Spain by the decision of the Coordinating Council of our Union.
Iriarte Angel Jose Luis, born 1957, Professor of Private International Law at the Public University of Navarra (Spain), PhD, Counselor and Lawyer at the International Law Firm Lupicinio, Member of the Emergency Arbitration Task Force of the International Chamber of Commerce, Professor of the Jean Monnet Program of the Chair of the European Union, member of the editorial boards of scientific journals on international law published in Moldova and Poland. Previously, he worked as a Deputy Rector at the Public University of Navarra, gave lectures, taught at more than 20 universities around the world, including the USA, France, Germany, Japan and Brazil. Author of over 80 monographs and scientific articles in the field of private international law, including on the problems of resolving conflict situations and the application of international sanctions. The official commentary on the Spanish Civil Code prepared by Iriarte Angel is recognized as the official publication for use by the Supreme Court of this state. Iriarte Angel has been a member of the International Union of Lawyers for many years, and he is one of the most active members of the standing Commission on International Cooperation. Recently, on his own initiative, Iriarte Angel became the founder and member of BoD of a new public organization “International Athlete Rights Association” (IARA), created by our Union.
The legal basis for the activities of this foreign Representative Office is “The Regulations on the Representative Office of the International Union of Lawyers in a foreign country or a group of foreign countries”, approved in a new edition by the Chairman of the International Union of Lawyers Andrey Trebkov on December 1, 2020. In accordance with this document, representatives in foreign countries may be well-known scientists, professors, attorneys at law, lawyers, notaries and other specialists and public figures in the field of jurisprudence, over the age of 25, who know English, have a good reputation, respect the Charter and decisions our Union. Representatives can represent the interests of our Union in national and international organizations and courts located in their countries, negotiate and correspond with third parties, conclude agreements with them on cooperation, have their own seal, stamps with the name and symbols of the Union and act under a power of attorney, determined by the Chairman of the International Union of Lawyers. Representatives also have the right to act in their countries without forming a legal entity, to fulfill the honorary duties of a Representative in their free time from their main work, exclusively on a voluntary and public basis, taking into account their age and health status, and their financial capabilities.
Representative offices of our Union are already operating in Great Britain (Representative David McArdle), Hungary (Representative Nemes Andras) and Switzerland (Representative Solenik Daria). The work of foreign missions is coordinated by the head of the standing Commission on International Cooperation, Deputy Chairman of the International Union of Lawyers Anatoly Peskov.
